squasher
effects/compressora single-band simultaneous upwards (parallel) and downwards compressor for decreasing peaks while also decreasing crest factor. this is akin to single-band ott
each stage also has a soft clipper for further controlling peaks
intended for beefing up instruments and busses

controllers
group 1: mix controls
- dry/wet: the dry/wet mix of the effect
- input gain: the input gain of the effect
group 2: upwards controls
- upwards lookahead: the lookahead of the upwards compressor in ms. good for decreasing distortion from the compressor
- upwards threshold: the threshold of the upwards compressor
- upwards slope: the slope (ratio) of the upwards compressor
- upwards attack: the attack of the upwards compressor in ms
- upwards release: the release of the upwards compressor in ms
- upwards makeup gain: the makeup gain of the upwards compressor. ranges from 0 to +48 db
- upwards clipper ceiling: the ceiling of the soft clipper. ranges from 0 to -12 db
- upwards output gain: the output gain of the upwards compressor
group 3: downwards controls
- downwards lookahead: the lookahead of the downwards compressor in ms. good for decreasing distortion from the compressor
- downwards threshold: the threshold of the downwards compressor
- downwards slope: the slope (ratio) of the downwards compressor
- downwards attack: the attack of the downwards compressor in ms
- downwards release: the release of the downwards compressor in ms
- downwards makeup gain: the makeup gain of the downwards compressor. ranges from 0 to +48 db
- downwards clipper ceiling: the ceiling of the soft clipper. ranges from 0 to -12 db
- downwards output gain: the output gain of the downwards compressor
group 4: monitoring controls
- upwards monitor: enables sending the upwards compressor output directly to the output of the module. useful for analyzing what will be added to the downwards stage
